“Rescue cat café” can describe three very different things. One café may introduce visitors to cats currently looking for homes. Another may care for former street cats as permanent residents. A third may host occasional adoption events while its everyday café cats stay with the owner.
If your reason for visiting is adoption, that distinction matters more than décor or star ratings. This researched comparison covers three Bangkok-area cafés whose current official pages document a rescue or adoption connection. It is not a claim that these are the only rescue-minded cafés in the city.

Asok Pethouse: the clearest route if you want to adopt
Asok Pethouse describes itself as a café for rescued cats where adoption is an ongoing goal. Its adoption page explains why meeting a cat in a relaxed setting can help a potential adopter understand personality before applying, and it directs applicants to the current adoption contact.
That makes Asok the strongest match in this list for someone asking, “Where can I meet a cat I may be able to adopt?” A café visit is still not an instant handover. Responsible adoption can involve questions about housing, existing pets, household agreement, finances, long-term plans and what happens if an adopter leaves Thailand.
Use the café’s current adoption page before travelling. The cats available, screening steps and visitor terms can change, and an old review cannot tell you which animal is ready for a home today.
Mohu Mohu: rescued residents and event-based adoption support
Mohu Mohu’s official concept page says its cats came from places such as streets, temples, apartments and parks rather than pet shops or breeders. Its cat page describes those former abandoned cats as adopted by the café owner.
That is a permanent-resident rescue model. Mohu Mohu’s own FAQ says it cannot ordinarily take in additional cats, although it may help share a rehoming post. In July 2025, the café also hosted a documented one-day adoption fair with a separate rescue group.
The useful distinction is timing: evidence of a past event does not mean adoptable cats are present every day. Visit Mohu Mohu for its rescue residents; if adoption is your goal, check its news or contact the café for a current event or referral first. The official site also says weekend and public-holiday reservations are required and children under seven are not admitted, so this is a planned visit rather than a universal family option.
Siamese Cat Café: 16 adopted cats who are already home
All 16 cats at Siamese Cat Café were adopted. They are permanent residents. None is displayed as an animal a visitor can take home, and we do not rotate cats through the room as adoption inventory.
The value of this model is different. Visitors meet adult cats living with continuity, learn that an adopted animal remains a long-term responsibility, and support ongoing care and rescue awareness. The café’s current public information also directs people toward partner-shelter adoption and donation options beyond the resident family.
For an ordinary visit, the cat room has no separate entrance fee, no minimum spend and no fixed session limit during opening hours. Socks are required, children need supervision, and the cats decide whether to interact or rest. There is plenty of free parking. A closed café can remain alive in old search results
Older lists still mention Catsanova Adoptable Cat Cafe. Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s public inspection record states that the business had ceased operating by September 2025. We have therefore not presented it as a current option.
This is why a rescue-café list needs dates and primary sources. A compelling old article can remain searchable long after the adoption programme, location or business itself has changed.
Questions to ask before adopting through a café
Meeting a cat is the beginning, not the whole decision. Ask the café or its shelter partner:
- Which cats are currently available, and who legally manages the adoption?
- What health checks, vaccinations, sterilisation and medical records are included?
- What home, landlord or household evidence is required?
- How should the cat be introduced to children or existing animals?
- What support is available after adoption, and what happens if the placement fails?
- If you may leave Thailand, what realistic long-term plan will protect the cat?
A careful application is not an inconvenience added to adoption. It is part of finding a home that can last.
Choose the model that matches your purpose
Choose Asok Pethouse when your real goal is to explore adopting a cat now. Choose Mohu Mohu when you want to support and meet rescued permanent residents, while watching for clearly announced adoption events. Choose Siamese Cat Café when you want a relaxed visit with 16 cats whose adoption stories have already reached the permanent-home stage.
Whichever route you choose, confirm the current programme directly before travelling. If you are not ready to adopt, a responsible visit, a donation to a credible rescue, fostering, volunteering or sharing a verified adoption post can still help—without making a promise to a cat that your household cannot keep.
